On freezing cold weekend in January I took Joel's Monoprint workshop at Mix-It Studio, a wonderful clean well organized studio in Sommerville. We started with trace monotypes and moved into manipulating the ink left on the plates after we did our trace monotype. From there we learned about viscosity and how to manipulate the ink on our plates. Very productive workshop for me because at one point I painted a clear oil-setswell mix all around a saw I had drawn. Joel was not convinced what I did made sense but in the end I was happy with the results and that in turn has helped me think differently when I draw.
